2026 San Diego EMT Academy

This Cal-JAC EMT Academy is provided through a generous grant from the San Diego Workforce Partnership to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation, and is hosted in partnership with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
This program is designed to provide the opportunity to candidates to earn their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course completion certificate as the first step toward a career in the fire service. In addition to obtaining the skills required of a nationally registered EMT, those cadets who have not already taken the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), or the Firefighter Entry-Level written exam, will have the opportunity to physically train for the (CPAT), receive preparatory instruction for the Cal-JAC written exam, and complete both tests as part of the course. All graduating cadets will be added to the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center’s Statewide Eligibility List, which is used by fire departments throughout California that are looking to hire.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a hard deadline of Sunday, May 31st 2026 at 11:59 PM. (Late submissions will not be accepted.)
